Removing sequential game folders

Hi all,
The SS explains it all. Today I see we are onto game 0.9.17.0 therefore I presume it is logical to transfer over the files from the 16 folder.
I placed them into the 17 folder and the game booted up as normal with no Mods added.
Therefore can I have a simple explanation as to why putting the files into the 0.9.17.0.1 folder allows the Mods to play.
I know you may think this is a silly post but I cannot get my head around as to why the files need to go in a future folder and not a current one.
Hope that makes sense.
There was a micro patch today so they updated the mods folder. They have used this technique with WoWs since the begining.
0.9.17.0.1 is now the patch version m8 , all you need to do is either move stuff or rename
So I have to put everything into 0.9.17.0.1 ?
Strange happenings and I thought Halloween was over “woo woo”.
@ Soulza, why has the x60 zoom been taken out your pack or was this a genuinely just an overlay to Keho_blue? I am now zooming back into space upon zoom out instead of stopping at my preconfigured 175.
Oh why does WG have to mess up every update when you guys always find a way around it
i have included two mods that can control the zoom functions , i have set one to false if i left zoom extended in there would be three mods doing the same thing

zoom file is in configs/bbmods/
