you will not be able to restore as xvm has been re written in the last month or so , you must have been using a much older version pre july?
if you wrote your own xvm , you are going to need to recode it by hand as quite a few commands/macros have changed , the shadow command now uses blur for example , this would be the black border you mentioned ,
you can alter default wn8 in your personal space on the xvm websaite , set to two digit xwn8 etc..
recoding this yourself will take you a while , else download someones config that has already been updated and is close to what you had before
