I was getting a 10 fps drop just using xvm without lots of scripted mods so I gave up because I was getting “hacky” replays. The return to garage and battle loading were longer too.

It got better with Havoc but I got used to not using XVM. PF battle stats worked better so I stuck with that. I did try Hawgs pack and I liked it but XVM had already pissed me off.

I know CuntyBollox had a nightmare with XVM because he has a slow PC. His battle loading times were about 10 – 20 secs after battle start. Now without XVM and with Havoc he loads at about 10 secs before counter 0. (Yeah, he has a new custom rig on it’s way).

It’s a shame that all the love Hawg puts in the pack is not stand-alone. Maybe Soulza can write a new XVM. 😀

Another thing that would be fun to discuss is the rumours…… (I say rumours because I have not managed to recreate this)……….

It is said that Korean Random collects data on installed mods in your client. (Note…. this is NOT a reference to sniffer mods, that is something else).

Can they? Do they? I have no idea……. but…..  it has been said convincingly on other sites. So….. IF they collect data….  What do they need it for?

I’m sure the tin-foil hat brigade would love this but no-one has yet said “Yes they do” or “No they don’t”. They just say “They CAN”. So…. my question is…… what use could that data be to KR? Collection of mod data could not help XVM to work better and it’s not needed for an installer.

Maybe (if they do collect data) it was a good idea for the future when they developed that function, but in that case, why not remove that function because it is not used (and should not be used). Anything in XVM that is not used…….. eats fps. Is the base code so complicated that no-one can optimise it any more?
