Those of you that have Windows 10 how do you like it? My wife wants a gaming laptop (so she can play DOOM
). I’ve been looking and they all have Win10. I’ve pretty much narrowed down the brand, MSI, just have to pick one FOR ME! I’ll be damned if I’m gonna buy a new and more powerful laptop and give it to her.
She said she would be fine with my 2 year old powerhouse model.
I know Win10 has that automatic update feature which I hate and I think, unless you get Win10 PRO, you can’t disable that feature. I have never trusted M$ hardware updates. Did one once on my current laptop and it killed a feature of my keyboard that I like and use. Had to go get MSI’s version.
I was thinking about getting a 7th generation CPU, and buying another copy of Win7, but M$ announced on 3/17 that Win7 will no longer be updated on 7th Gen Intel and AMD CPU’s. Which sucks because I’m so used to Win7.
So I would just like some feedback.

That can i say. I have no problems with Win 10 Pro. It runs like a charm in my setup.

18.03.2017 at 12:20 #112059Dziadunio54MemberHello. I was skeptical with the installation of win10. I installed it for the first time last year. A mass of bugs and problems with the drivers. I went back to win7.
Once again, I installed win10 some two weeks ago. To my surprise it is much better than using win7. Of course, configured according to my requirements and mainly the game. Now I recommend it to friends 🙂18.03.2017 at 12:23 #112060maxthemadMembergo to windows update, download and install all available updates

Unbeknown to me my Son was installing all the components of Win 10 (yes I hear you all saying that windows was doing it) onto MY PERSONAL Pc. Let us just call it the old one for easier reference as I use his faster more powerful PC seeing as he stays with his GF.
I tried accessing the old PC and was met my a myriad of confusing symbols etc etc etc… needless to say it had to get reformatted back to Win 7 as I am from an older generation that resists change until it is proven to work. So that was the end of my Win 10 experience. Try and see if you like it and if not there will always be a copy of Win 7 available to revert back to.
Next, your Wife: My Son was into AlienWare for his original gaming laptop and it was faster than my old PC but as time went on he fully upgraded it for a small sum of money in comparison to buying a brand new model. Would you consider an upgrade to your PC so the Wife can have a faster laptop at a massively reduced cost?
Each laptop he has purchased has been extremely faster than buying from your High Street retailers because he had them basically made to measure to his specification. Again would you consider that as an option?
Ultimately I would give her the older laptop and for you to buy the new super duper faster laptop for yourself
18.03.2017 at 15:45 #112062soulzaParticipantI have used windows since 95 and hand on heart once you do a slight tayloring job on wn10 it is without doubt the fastest, cleanest version to date , also many will tell you very few errors etc. it really is idiot proof.
wn8 put a lot of people off upgrading same with vista both lets be honest fucking shit upgrades , i hatted windows 8 with a vengence , to touchy feely for me looked like a tablet desktop.
also windows 10 is free (cough cough wink wink) and you can get many custom versions if you really look around. i just use 10 pro and download and install this program,
this shell turns off all those stupid tiles , and reverts the start menu down to windows 7 , i always use this and it makes me think i am still using windows 7 be it a super clocked version.
you can download a little program that auto turns off windows updates if you wish but i leave them on and have never had a problem.

Classic shell was a gift for Win8 and 8.1, now for Win10.
I can tell you the only issue I have run into is corrupted Win10 user profiles. Seems to happen more often under 10. There is no fix, except to create a new local profile then move content to that profile. At least, I havent been able to find a fix.
18.03.2017 at 22:20 #112064oldwarserParticipantwindows 10 comes with automatic updates but you can disable them if you want to. i disabled my updates and yes win10 runs just like win 7 does.so ya i recomend it

My laptop can’t be upgraded other than putting in an SSD/HDD/Ram. I’ve had to replace the HDD already (f$%^er died on me after a year) and I plan on putting an SSD in it. Ram slots are full so nothing there. I’ve built custom desktops but never laptops.
In the past I’ve bought custom made lappies from from Powernotebooks.com but they are no longer in business. Found another company that builds and has a good rep on resellerratings.com.
My current laptop runs everything I have on maxed out setting without any problems. Even with WoT maxed I have no problems.
So wife gets the hand me down and I go for a new one.

Classicshell hmm. Yeah I hate those stupid tiles. I like the win 7 look. I don’t mind the M$ updates for their stuff it’s their hardware drivers updates that suck. I prefer to go with manufacture versions. I just found that M$ has a KB update that will let you prevent M$ from updating hardware drivers in settings.
Laptop came with 8.1. Tried it for 2 days and installed Win 7. What a POS 8.1 was.
Not sure I really need Win10 Pro. Other than the file encryption it doesn’t have anything I see I really need.
19.03.2017 at 00:34 #112069soulzaParticipantwhen you reformat with win7 you need to have all your drivers handy especially your network card driver , you then have to install all the drivers , networking can be a pain with admin rights and work groups etc. wn10 just takes these away,
on install it will install all your drivers for you some may be generic but you are good to go after install , after using it a while i would not go back to wn7 i thought i would but was on my sons pc other day that has wn7 and it just didnt feel right any more.
19.03.2017 at 00:49 #112070soulzaParticipantif you decide to stay with 7 have a look at this , i used to use black edition when i used 7
