lol , a cheat will not make you a better player , it will just make you a cheater plain and simple.

however a nice little modpack may improve your game , even a good gunsight can help,

my best advice to anyone who wants to improve their gameplay is learn how to use the minimap circles , people overlook these and they are a very powerful tool  if you use them properly ,

select vehicles that suit your gameplay style , its pointless playing a TD if you like to brawl close up , and pointless trying to snipe in a light tank.

if you have xvm installed it tells you who the good players are on your team , watch what they do and where they go on each map , they know these maps inside out so will adopt the best positions for the vehicles they are driving.

in the end it depends on how you want to judge who is good or who is bad , most opt for the wn8 ratings , nothing is perfect but wn8 is pretty decent way of ranking , the worse possible crime you will often see in a battle is a player driving his tank into stupid no win situations , or remaining still and firing when there are three arty on other team , if your unsure follow a good player and mimic what he does , this also gives you the added protection because he will normally defend you as well as hinself.
